"We just returned from Butch Cassidy's Hole-in-the-Wall Ride" adventure, and what an adventure it was for me to get there!

Two months before the ride, I suffered a medical event that cast a giant shadow over attending this year's ride.  While still in the emergency room, I told my wife and medical team that I didn't want - and would not miss the 2011 Hole-in-the-Wall Ride.  Having had such a fantastic experience on Steve's 2010 ride and knowing how much Steve and Marcie put of themselves into their Cowboy Safari adventures, I didn't want to miss it.

Seeing the magnificent beauty of Hole-in-the-Wall country, which I believe can only be truly appreciated from the back of a great horse, was my motivation to go again this year.  That coupled with a fun group of great riding partners, excellent meals, ranch experiences we immensely enjoyed, and the rich cowboy history of the area (not to mention Steve and Marcie Shaw attending to all the myriad of details) makes this an adventure we'll do again and again.

Steve and Marcie ... thanks again for taking such good care of us, it was a blast!"

The Hole-in-the-Wall Ride was outstanding!  Plenty of horseback riding, beautiful scenery, and loads of accurate historical information.  The ride through Buffalo Creek Canyon was exceptional, and unlike anything else of this type I've experienced... very beautiful and personally enriching.  Participating in the round-up and branding (an extra not on the itinerary) was an informative and exciting experience, and simply added to an already wonderful trip.  Did I mention the food?  It was excellent from the first meal to the last, always different, always tasty and plenty of it.  The cookout was superb... never tasted a better steak in my life!  I've been with Great American Adventures for six trips, each one unique, and they keep getting better and better.

I don't know how you do what you do in setting up these events.  I just know that you are the best at what you do.  Hell, anyone can set up a cattle drive, like at Hole-in-the-Wall... but to get involved in the drive and the roundup? Mixing it up with real calves/cattle, all those folks, branding, etc.?  For me, that was a bit of Heaven on Earth, and you (and the weather, too, I suppose) made it available to me.  As I've said before, a lifetime of memories in just one week!  And you do it consistently, and in different venues.

This is the ride to truly learn and feel the history of the western outlaws as they came to the end of their era.  The wide open spaces of Wyoming, the massive "Wall" that runs for miles, Indian "pictographs" on cliffs, stone tent rings all over the prairie, wagon ruts, and so much more leave you in awe of the territory and the people that inhabited it.  Great ride, Steve... hope to do another some day.

Steve, you do a great job, so don't stop!  Your trips are the absolute best - I just wish I could go on all of them every time they are offered.

I always look forward to seeing you, Johnnie, Rich, and Gary and their respective spouses/others.  I usually enjoy the company of the others who come along (I suspect because you're able to weed out those that don't fit), but there are a few that I really look forward to seeing, and each time I meet someone new to add to the short list.

I've been on many historical tours (I'm a fanatic!).  Though these trips are all good, none of them are anywhere near as much fun as your trips.  For an example, there is usually friendly discussions, but a remarkable lack of camaraderie, which for me is one of the reasons your trips are so much fun to go on.  So, my conclusion is, don't change what you're doing... it works!
