~ Horsemanship Clinic / Ghost Town Ride ~

June 5 – 10, 2011

South Pass, Wyoming

This clinic and ride will be held around the historic South Pass, Wyoming area - beautiful, scenic, magnificent - words can't describe the area.

We'll visit three ghost towns (the gold rush towns of South Pass, Miner's Delight & Atlantic City) on horseback.   This clinic/ride is ideal for all levels of riding ability.  In addition to the ghost towns (one, is still slightly populated - we'll ride to the saloon, hitch the horses outside and have a delicious dinner), we'll explore  historical landmarks and locations such as the Oregon Buttes, Sweetwater River, the Oregon, Mormon, California and Pony Express Trails, Willie and Martin Handcart sites.   John C. Fremont, his scout Kit Carson, the Pony Express and many a mountain man traversed this region - we are literally on the Continental Divide.

(Note: This date was purposely chosen a week before the Hole-in-the-Wall Ride & Custer's Ride to Glory so those interested can participate in all three rides)

The clinic will be conducted by America's Cowboy, Kevin McNiven, cowboy singer, poet, international entertainer, and I'm pleased to say, my friend and wrangler for over 13 years.  Kevin is one of the best horseman and trainers in North America.

This week will be customized to suit you, the rider.  Once we have the list of participants I'll ask each of you what you want to learn.  In fact, this process always  starts early, with requests for roping, feeling more comfortable in a full gallop, mounted shooting techniques, and more. This will also include a Wild Mustang Discovery ride (we do seem to find them), some fantastic scenic rides, and as always with me, a few fun surprises - Number 1 quote, "I can't believe we did that."

Plus Kevin will teach you a few things you didn't think to ask!!  We'll accomplish as much as possible based on the abilities of each rider.  Everyone can benefit from this five-day, intensive Horsemanship Clinic, regardless your riding level and proficiency.

If you want to improve your horsemanship, your confidence in the saddle and learn cowboy techniques this clinic is for you!

Please Note:  Men and women are invited (I get that question a lot)
